DISTRIBUTION
Distribution will be taking place during the first few days of school. Distribution will take place in the library. Students will come with their classes and must have either their current school I.D. or their official schedule with barcode strip. Students with charges will not be issued further textbooks or materials until all charges are cleared in the Library (Ed Code #48904 (a))
REPLACEMENT COPIES OF TEXTBOOKS
Students must pay for a lost book before receiving another copy. Students must come before school, at lunch, or after school to pay for a replacement copy. Students must be free of all charges to obtain replacement copy.
COSTS OF TEXTBOOKS
Students are responsible for the textbooks issued to them. Charges will be made for books that are lost, stolen or damaged. The Claremont High School is not responsible for stolen, lost or damaged books (pg. 25 Parent-Student Handbook). If a student returns a book with a missing or damaged barcode, the student will not receive credit for the book, since it cannont be properly identified. The student will be required to pay the replacement cost of the book if it cannot be determined that it is their book.(pg. 25)
The specific barcode in each book links that particular book to the student. Students should make note of the barcodes in each of the books they are issued. The specific textbooks issued to students must be the same textbooks returned, (barcode links books to students). If barcodes do not match, student will not be given credit for that particular textbook.
One area students can control is not sharing lockers. If students share their locker combination with one person, students could be sharing with the entire school. Students are ultimately responsible for the replacement cost for any lost textbooks on their record.

Below is a listing of current books being used at Claremont High School. This list will be changed as new textbooks are adopted through the district process. Please use this as a reference to costs that your student will pay if books are stolen, lost, or damaged.
Please note as well that replacement books may be purchased from sites such as Amazon.com, Half.com, Cheaptextbooks.com, etc. If the book you are replacing can be found, it may be worth the time and effort to look at these sites. We have heard stories from students that they found the same $80 book for $15 on line. You will need the ISBN number for the book (they are listed below). This is the 'fingerprint' for the textbook.
