Claremont High School
Student Acceptable Use Policy
Electronic Information Resource Contract
Claremont High School provides a full range of electronic information services to students and faculty, including Internet access. Claremont High School strongly believes in the educational value of such electronic services and recognizes their potential in support of our curriculum and student learning goals of our school. Our goal in providing this service is to promote educational excellence by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication. Claremont High School will make every effort to protect students and teachers from any misuses or abuses as a result of their experiences with an information service. However, all users must be continuously on guard to avoid inappropriate and illegal interaction with the information service.
Computing resources are available in most classrooms, in our Library/Media Center, and in our computer labs. Because CHS provides a wide array of Internet server resources, CHS resources are readily available, as well, to anyone with Internet access. In addition to general access to network services, CHS can also provide full Internet accounts including e-mail and dial-up access from home. This enhanced level of network access is available to students, faculty and staff with the completion of an additional application form available from the Physics Lab offices located in room 415.
Please read this document carefully. When signed by you and your guardian/parent, it becomes a legally binding contract. We must have your signature and that of your guardian/parent before we can provide you with any network access from our campus.
Listed below are the provisions of this contract. If any user violates these provisions, access to the information service may be denied and you may be subject to disciplinary action.
Personal Responsibility: As a representative of this school, I will accept personal responsibility for reporting any misuse of the network of which I become aware to an appropriate staff or faculty member.
Acceptable Use: My use of any network resources must be in support of education and research and consistent with the educational goals of Claremont High School. Computer use must adhere to all existing policies governing such use as established by the school faculty and staff.
Privileges: The use of the Internet electronic information system is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use will result in a revocation of those privileges.
Network Etiquette and Privacy: You are expected to abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette.
Services: Claremont High School makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or implied, for the service it is providing. All information stored on CHS resources is the property of the Claremont Unified School District. Storage of personal files and programs, or modification of any computing resource of CHS without the consent of the responsible faculty or staff member's express permission, is prohibited.
Security: Security on any computer system is a high priority because there are so many users. If you identify a security problem, please notify an appropriate faculty or staff member, immediately.
Vandalism: Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm or destroy data of another user or any other agencies or networks that are connected to the system. This includes, but is not limited to, any action with creates a denial of service effect on any CHS network resource. Any vandalism will result in the loss of computer services, disciplinary action, and legal referral.
