CHS Interact Membership Information

Hello and welcome to Claremont High School's Interact District 5300 Club. We are excited that you have decided to join us, and are sure that this will be a worthwhile experience for all of us. Our objective is to assist and beautify the community while learning and having fun. However, to run the club as smoothly as possible, we have instated several regulations that assist both memebers and officers. It may seem long and a bit tedious, but please be patient with us; we have posted this page in hopes of clarifying any confusion. We hope that Interact will provide an unforgetable expeirence that will carry you forth on your future endeavors. Again, welcome to Interact and let's make 1997 - 1998 the best ever!

Qualifications to be a Member
- There are none! Well - two to be exact - you must be willing to help out and be a registered student at Claremont High School. As a community service club, we hope that you bring your willingness to assist to each activity. Be sure to register, which in turn helps us when we need to find you. The registration form is passed out at the meetings or during club week. It asks some basic questions such as your classes, your phone number and whether or not you drive. No exploitation of your deepest darkest secrets - promise!

Attendance
- While no member is ever expected to participate in any specific activity, members however are expected to come to a meeting once every two months or participate in an activity available. Failure to meet the only requirement is cause for removal. Members will have only one notice before they are removed from the role sheet. Attendance during the meeting will be taken by the secretary and by appearance only. Members are not required to "check in" as in previous years.

Hours Policy
- During an activity however, members are asked to check in for the purpose of tallying hours. Those who have participate an exceptional amount of hours will receive a certificate for their acheivements. We sincerely hope that we can pass out a large amount of certificates at the end of the year. The Hours Policy is also useful when students would like to run for office at the end of the year.

Voting for Officers
- Officers are voted into office at the end of the year. To qualify, members must have completed a minimum total of five hours of service hours, not including the time attending the weekly meetings. All members who qualify are encouraged to run for a position. Only members who have met the attendance policy will be allowed to vote. The positions available are: one president, one vice president, one secretary, one treasurer, one committees director, and two publicists. The vote is by secret ballot and one vote per person please. No "voting for my friend who can't be here."

Activity
- Most activities are held within the City of of Claremont. If in case an acitivity is held elsewhere, and you have difficulty with transportation, please inform an officer and we will try to resolve the situation. A summary of all of our activities of '96'-97 also available. However, current or future activities will be discussed at the meeting. Depending on the situation, an activity may take as long as one hour to an entire afternoon. Don't forget to sign in at the beginning and check out at the end of each activity. This assists the officers in determining who participated in each project.

Meetings
- Meetings are every Friday, after school, at the central quad under the shade. Meetings usually last for about fifteen minutes. The agenda usually covers the next upcoming activities and the feedback we receive from our previous activities. All flyers, information sheets, maps, sign-ups are distributed at the meeting. Feel free to stay later just to "hang out" or to come early and play some songs from our stereo system. If you can sing, you can go for some karaoke, but Interact is not responsible for any flying vegetables.

Congratulations for making it through the text! We hope it wasn't terribly boring. Well, that is all of it - no more rules and regulations. We hope to see you at a meeting soon. We are also delighted that you've decided to play a major role in making 1997-1998 Interact the best ever.
