SPOTLIGHT ON EXCELLENCE

October 2, 2006

Luis Lopez

Grounds Maintenance Worker

Facilities and Maintenance

Hire Date: August, 2000

Years of Service: 6

A colleague has written, "Could this employee be cloned in order for each school in the District to have this person full time would be wonderful. For hour by hour, as this employee works in silence, the bar is raised for all of us, no matter where we are, no matter what we are doing."

Another peer has written, "He is professional in conduct, appearance and performance in his duties."

He has made many positive changes. Staff, students and parents are always making comments about his work and how it has transformed the campus.

Another colleague has commented that, "He is quietly efficient. He has taken responsibilities voluntarily and is always helpful. He has taken the initiative to implement unique designs and is a real asset to this site."

Quoting his supervisor, "…He is the quintessential district employee. He is a hardworking, conscientious worker who takes pride in his craft. He is self-directed and frequently demonstrates his ability to complete several tasks at a time. He is always pleasant to co-workers and the public and is eager to help those in need of assistance."

"His spirit is that strong. His wisdom that far reaching. His caring that pronounced. His potential that pure. It has been quite an honor to call him colleague."

Rarely has an employee been recognized twice in the Spotlight on Excellence. Without question this person is exemplary.

This employee grew up in Mexico and the United States and has been studying to increase his English language skills. He enjoys seeing his daughter in school activities and spending time at picnics in the park with his children.

He appreciates the outdoors while gardening, playing soccer and going to the beach with family and friends.

It is with a great deal of pleasure that I present the Claremont Unified School District Spotlight on Excellence Award to Luis Lopez, who was also a recipient of this award in October of 2002.
